Glimmer 1

1st April Glimmer 1

Glimmer 1Tuesday and it’s the second late of the set. The bugger of it is that the motorway has snarled up as I go in so I end up on a late bus and jumping a train. Still gives me a chance to find Glimmer 1. And lo when I arrive at the station the ticket wombles are in evidence. Marched to the ticket office to pay for a ticket them having accepted bugger all options at Bryn. Day goes OK. Still not feeling great. Somehow it’s Tuesday and we have two days left after today. HBB again and the day is OK but not great. Team on the other hand is great, a supportive bunch. Lates are truly a pain in the arse, can’t sort out stuff early and get to work on time, get to work late and finish late. Get home, feed people sleep.

Lines

31st March Lines

LinesLines…. it’s a brick. First of the lates and the usual greeting with Liberty of 3 more days!  Bit of a slow start, the hardest HBB supported by Ash.  Generally other than value think it was an alright day but a cheeky add line may have saved me.  A few mobile lines help too.

Still feeling a bit shit but I will survive!  Struggle to get up this morning.  Am late in, Lib is worried!  In the evening I struggle to eat tea, just not in the mood for it.

Way home and another pint of the Naughty Hooker and a wee nip of Black Bush.  It’s not often I have a whiskey but have been chatting with a fella in Crumlin and feel like one tonight.

My Fave Spot

30th March My Fave Spot

My Fave SpotMy Fave Spot – well I suppose the 610 counts as one of them as I experiment with Andy Burnham’s tap on, tap off experiment on the bus. It speeds me to Wigan having been a slug-a-bed after a bad night’s sleep as a result of cold feet.

Grab a brew at Morrison’s and trog to work.  Need a pony so find Rachel in before me.  Sort Tea and we begin.  Not a bad day, no HBB but other than that it’s cool.

Day done, repair unto Wigan and The Swan and Railway to wait for a bus, indulge in a pint of Naughty Hooker.  Bus home and salad.

Nature's Beauty

29th March Nature’s Beauty

Nature's BeautyNature’s beauty, bit of a rambling concept this one the constant generation and degeneration of nature, yadda yadda yadda!  Lazy day, lie in, gentle amble via the chicken shop as we begin the Kidney friendly diet for C.  Plan is some sort of Waldorf Salad for tonight. This is followed by a visit to The Coffee Shop.

C visits the ATM and then on to Iceland to view veggie options.  Then Lidl.  Wee pint in the Tom and Gerry and home.  Cook us some scrambled eggs for lunch with a few mushies.

Salad works well and is popular with herself.

In other news, the work on nature’s beauty that will be this Roots allotment is gathering pace, still no idea where their site is but they are communicating with me at least!

Playful

28th March Playful

PlayfulA playful day off. First up a wee lie in, then a trip to Wigan to fetch the bike and pop the council tax dosh into the bank.  Clearly the Nationwide has only recently reopened because I score a free tote bag.  Turns out useful because I’ve not dressed for the cycle and it goes onto the back rack with the lock in it.  Prior to that though breakfast at the Station Cafe.

Train back to Bryn, visit the quacks to fetch a bloods form and pots for C to piss in.  Back to the house and play with a playful Elsie.

C arrives home, we both have a shower and it’s best bib and tucker for Joe and Margaret’s Diamond Wedding Anniversary up at Aspull British Legion.  Bee App gives us the route.  C not happy at the walk to the Legion.  Celebration is fun and good to catch up with folk.

Something Shiny

27th March Something Shiny

Something ShinyIn search of something shiny I revisit the Lucky Cat at the Wallgate Chippy.  Last of the earlies before a couple of days off.  Team have been having fun whilst getting the job done.  A better day but not ideal. Last call just before I leave means it’s tight for the train.  I jump a bus home.

Food from the chippy.  Try ringing Beck because it’s her birthday, no answer.

From Below

26th March From Below

From BelowFrom Below leads me to the bridge at the station.  It’s a place I’ve photographed sporadically because I love the industrial nature and lines it offers.

Odd day, no idea how it finished up but I do know I have a phone to code in the morning so that’s not too bad.  Still struggling with HBB but did a regrade.  Another cycle to work, came back on the bus.  Phone C from below on the double decker she lets me know who I’m feeding.

Elsie has apparently been sleeping most of the day.  C is worried.

From Above

25th March From Above

From AboveCycle in today, nice wee ride in the rain, the glasses definitely need the addition of windscreen wipers.  Quick change of plan to go to the top of the Mill to take this.  Escherisc view of the stairs from above.

Day starts slow, then improves and then slows down again.  Dash back home to be back for C’s appointment at the hub.  Hop on the bus and wait in the surgery.  We get seen and then have a 20 minute wait for the next bus.

Tea from the Chippy, ’tis Steven’s birthday and he’s been for a curry with his Dad and Ryan.  That’s cool.  Meanwhile Elsie has been paddling in the sink bowl and has orange paws.  Apparently she was indignant as Ryan used baby wipes to clean her paws.

My View - a photo of grass and dew from a day off.

24th March My View

My View - a photo of grass and dew from a day off.Day off.  Day starts with me taking the piss… literally to the GPs. Whereupon NHS IT strikes, they have to hand write the sample form because the printer is dead.  On the way up a couple of photos.  Need to look at them to see if they are prompt suitable. Jump a bus back home.

Herself off work, still recovering from Asthma attack. Take a wee dander to get a photo for tomorrow in the afternoon.

Pump up the tyres and sort rear reflector on the bike.  Usual day off preparation for first early of the week.

In other news there is some movement on the Roots allotment situation.  They’ve announced it will be 16 minutes away from Ashton… presumably by car, ‘cos perish the thought you wouldn’t have a car.  As long as it’s reasonable cycle ride, I’m in!  Looks like a £40 upfront then for a baby patch about a tenner a month.  Not looking for anything huge, it’s not like I have a clue what I’m doing!  As much as anything it’s a healthy thing to do on a day off for the old mental health.

A Moment of Rest

23rd March A Moment of Rest

A Moment of RestC still crook, had a rough nights sleep, get up manage to trip the fuses with the toaster, make coffee and that at least offers a moment of rest.  Sort out the fuses, and C comes downstairs to tell me off.  Nip to the shop for water for C and job’s a good ‘un.  Slowly sort the roast after a sarnie for lunch.

Roast was appalling.
