From Above

25th March From Above

From AboveCycle in today, nice wee ride in the rain, the glasses definitely need the addition of windscreen wipers.  Quick change of plan to go to the top of the Mill to take this.  Escherisc view of the stairs from above.

Day starts slow, then improves and then slows down again.  Dash back home to be back for C’s appointment at the hub.  Hop on the bus and wait in the surgery.  We get seen and then have a 20 minute wait for the next bus.

Tea from the Chippy, ’tis Steven’s birthday and he’s been for a curry with his Dad and Ryan.  That’s cool.  Meanwhile Elsie has been paddling in the sink bowl and has orange paws.  Apparently she was indignant as Ryan used baby wipes to clean her paws.

24th March My View

My View - a photo of grass and dew from a day off.Day off.  Day starts with me taking the piss… literally to the GPs. Whereupon NHS IT strikes, they have to hand write the sample form because the printer is dead.  On the way up a couple of photos.  Need to look at them to see if they are prompt suitable. Jump a bus back home.

Herself off work, still recovering from Asthma attack. Take a wee dander to get a photo for tomorrow in the afternoon.

Pump up the tyres and sort rear reflector on the bike.  Usual day off preparation for first early of the week.

In other news there is some movement on the Roots allotment situation.  They’ve announced it will be 16 minutes away from Ashton… presumably by car, ‘cos perish the thought you wouldn’t have a car.  As long as it’s reasonable cycle ride, I’m in!  Looks like a £40 upfront then for a baby patch about a tenner a month.  Not looking for anything huge, it’s not like I have a clue what I’m doing!  As much as anything it’s a healthy thing to do on a day off for the old mental health.

Free Choice

28th Free Choice

Free ChoiceFriday and I’m given a list.  But first its time to sort the panniers on the bike in daylight.  Discover I’d put them on back to front.  Relatively easy to sort.  Pop in the bike locks and job’s a good’un.

Onto the list. First off I am sent to the doctors to fetch blood forms, pots to piss in and to rearrange the time of the telephone consult.  Then to book a bloods appointment, ring the people concerned only to discover I have to book it online.  So online I go.  Next a trip to the post office to send Christine’s birthday card.

Next to sorting the pedals on the bike.  Much easier than I thought it’d be.

24th February X

XLast day off for a wee while and it’s a busy one. Laundrette day, change pedals day, bake custard pie, make mince and potato pie, give the cat her flea and worming treatment. Hoover and clean the oven and kitchen.

So Laundrette had a dryer hog, it started pissing down as I left. Cat avoided the pills. But on the plus side the custard pie seems to have worked. Mince and potato pie is a work in progress.

Feeling really shit, hit the booze to deal with it, not certain that that’s a good idea. That being said I just continue.

VSaturday, little light shopping, drink with C at the Tom & Gerry which seems populated by geriatric one armed bandit raiders with loud voices.

Home and sort the cat litter and wash up.  Simple food tonight in terms of Haloumi burgers and sweet potato fries.  Making some fruit scones too.

Obviously this screen is not going to tell me anything useful.

A day of lazy shopping and gentle cooking.  Pedals, Hex Keys and Gloves arrive.  The 15mm spanner the web tells me is useful for pedal changing is in fact no use, looks like an 18mm is needed.  Which spanner is missing from the set I own.  Yep, the 18mm… order one.  Need grease as well which I order.  C is convinced the bike is costing a fortune.  It’s not, more a case of well being.

10th February J

JSo last day off for a couple of days. A day of rest, a few bits and bobs done, phone the vet and sort cat tabs, ask about her vaccination date. She’s due jabs the middle of next month so need to ring back at the beginning of the month.

Another attempt at fitting the new handlebar grips, resign myself to the notion it ain’t happening.  Order a different set that are simpler and supposedly rubber.  Hoping they are easier to fit.

What I’m doing now

January 27th What I’m doing now

What I’m doing nowA day of bike fettling, would be great if I knew what I was doing! C off from work. Waiting on arrival of late required inner tubes!  Fucked up when removing the tyres, mind you gawd alone knows how old the tubes were that were in the bike.  New saddle arrives as well.  Might not get to ride into work tomorrow, depends on arrival time of the tubes.  They are meant to be here by 10pm.  Arrive at about 7.00, tyres are a bastard to fit back but seem to manage.  Get’em back on the bike, will pump up tonight to see how well I’ve done!

Well one wheel is fine, other is fucked… we go again tomorrow night!

Need to get a small socket set and small saddle bag.
