1st January 2026 – Something Fresh
January 1st… New Year New Resolutions etc. So this year is an attempt at colour in addition to the monochrome for FMS. Prompt today was Fresh so Sainsbury’s to the rescue. Sainsbury’s itself was odd, the place was cold and felt like it was full of zombie shoppers. Wish the check out lady a happy new year and I get a tirade of all that’s wrong with the world. Couldn’t figure out if I found it sad or funny.
Cook a Shepherds pie as we start this Dash Diet thing. Forget to grab the cabbage and cook it – did not go down well. I get a lecture on the need to stick to the diet and the need for veggies. The Shepherds pie was coaching with the things!
C seems to think my mood is foul, I seem to think it’s over reacting to tone of voice. Don’t feel too bad but I am trying to cut down on the Sertraline at the moment. Maybe it’s having a bigger impact than I think. C thinks I should see the doctor, I don’t.
Order meds.
Did the top 9 thing on Instagram, it’s not a bad selection, not necessarily my faves but hey, what do I know.
Review #1 – European Sun – School Report
Single in advance of the new album on Skep Wax. Spoken word listing of the day to a Velvets based background – reminiscent of The Gift. Very much a description of middle age life that sadly I can relate to! Brief snippets of school reports. All of this in a Bristolian accent which I find comforting.

Currently loving and being loved back, Elsie the Cat in action. Back to work today and I get to challenge my Tuesday hoodoo. Conversion is positive, the value is shite! Some of the conversation is fun, some of it not.
The mess I’m ignoring – aka the Marmite pot, which is a gooey mess. Day is a bit strange, C’s last day off and start to sort the kitchen light with Steven’s aid, once he emerges from his cocoon.
Late and it’s last of the series so tea from my favourite mug is a must. We’re clearly in a puckish mood as a team and the banter is flying.
Tuesday and it’s the second late of the set. The bugger of it is that the motorway has snarled up as I go in so I end up on a late bus and jumping a train. Still gives me a chance to find Glimmer 1. And lo when I arrive at the station the ticket wombles are in evidence. Marched to the ticket office to pay for a ticket them having accepted bugger all options at Bryn. Day goes OK. Still not feeling great. Somehow it’s Tuesday and we have two days left after today. HBB again and the day is OK but not great. Team on the other hand is great, a supportive bunch. Lates are truly a pain in the arse, can’t sort out stuff early and get to work on time, get to work late and finish late. Get home, feed people sleep.
Curry night, a Punjabi Tomato Curry with Chicken, rice and Naan. Slow cook and caramalise some onions. Also bake some fruit scones. Wee shop with C earlier and swift pint. Pump up the bike tyres in anticipation of tomorrow’s cycle to work.
Hmm, Anti-Marten Spray just the thing to put in your bat utility belt.
