May 19th – My shoes today
My shoes today… well some of them. What should be a chilled day off turns out to be somewhat more complex. First off the fence gets painted. Then the washing is done and hung and repeated with the paint spattered clothes. The whole thing was a three cup of tea job.
Then off to the GPs to argue with the receptionist about an appointment for C and my meds – there are no Pioglitazone 15mg to be had in the country. Still waiting for an alternative from the GPs pharmacist.
Meet C off the bus, she decides to change GP practice. Fetch forms, nip to the Tom and Gerry’s because she’s knackered. Nip to the shop as she heads home. Pie for tonight and shove on a chilli on for tomorrow.

Well that was an interesting morning, herself goes off on one, I escape to the shop via a coffee which provided me with the shot on the table. Fail to find the required pasta. This is not greeted well. Get on the bike to test my fix (didn’t make much difference, chain still unshipping in any gear other than fifth!). Go to Aldi. Still no lasagne.
So away into Wigan in the morning light so C can cancel her standing order to sort an issue. She’s dead chuffed. We bump into Stue on the way back to the bus station. We go in with surgical precision, into Nationwide and back to Ashton having found the Little Kitchen has closed. Brekkie at the Tom and Gerry’s it is. Then a light bit of shopping in which we find a clock that ticks and chimes (Muggins here pays for the bugger!)
What’s in my bag at Kawa’s. Day three of the lates and I’m still down.
A day of rest with the exception of a bit of shopping, a pint, cleaning the floor of the bathroom and kitchen. Glimmer 26 is back to food! Home and make koftas – they work, the bhajis this time don’t, too much batter. Need to follow the recipe rather than winging it! D’oh!
Easter Sunday and Glimmer 11 celebrates the fact I’ve finally cracked the cooking of Onion Bhaji after several years of failed attempts! Delicious too! Cook a pork roast for the day.
Day off and Elsie goes to the Vets for her jabs. Given a lift by Steven and Ryan. Cat behaves well, jabs go well. Struggle with tiredness, Elsie and I repair to bed.
Back into work today and value is shite but a cheeky £90 addline rescues things a tad. Feeling knackered. Day started well with an arsehole parked in front of the gate so I couldn’t get the bike out.
Monday and I’m despatched to deliver the piss to the GPs. Hazel is due to suffer the final indignity, it only hurts if you get your fingers caught between the bricks. Brief shop in Aldi and then onto the laundrette. My cunning plan of coffee, music and book is interrupted by building work at the garage. Plan B from Planet 57 swings into action and it’s a sausage barm and coffee from the sandwich shop.
Lazy start to another day off, not up till 9.40’ish. Wander into Wigan with C who is looking for shoes. First port of call is the market where she deems the shoes too frumpy. A brief coffee as I scarf the rest of my tabs. Then into the Grand Arcade. Shoezone (no wide fit), Clarks (too frumpy) fail to provide. In desperation it’s Schuh and we find some Doc Marten’s she loves, Klarna makes them affordable.
