What I’m doing now

January 27th What I’m doing now

What I’m doing nowA day of bike fettling, would be great if I knew what I was doing! C off from work. Waiting on arrival of late required inner tubes!  Fucked up when removing the tyres, mind you gawd alone knows how old the tubes were that were in the bike.  New saddle arrives as well.  Might not get to ride into work tomorrow, depends on arrival time of the tubes.  They are meant to be here by 10pm.  Arrive at about 7.00, tyres are a bastard to fit back but seem to manage.  Get’em back on the bike, will pump up tonight to see how well I’ve done!

Well one wheel is fine, other is fucked… we go again tomorrow night!

Need to get a small socket set and small saddle bag.

Peaceful

Peaceful

PeacefulA week of lates beckons. News full of Ofcom’s Affordability of communications services: April 2023 update a day of drops beckons.  Sure enough the day pans out that way,  a usual week may have one or two in it.  Today 4 of the buggers.

In other news I end up chatting to someone who works at SLAIS and who knew the McIlwaine’s.  Ia has apparently shuffled of this mortal coil which is sad.  Turns out she has a Wikipedia page the obit is here.

Bus home was a bit of an adventure, came home via Winstanley, no idea why, was a touch weird but what the heck.

Photo today was a Sunday snap when I got beyond a set of gates that are usually shut.  I guess a little light urbex. Either way it was interesting and the string of lights set things off nicely.

Tomorrow’s prompt is ‘found’ so will have to channel my inner Marcel Duchamps.  Be interesting to see what sort of found objects I come across.

Begins With B

Starts With B

Begins With BHmm… a day in three halves, started well with an Asda fetch of things. Stroll to work, take a couple of photos.

Day’s going well ’til 1.00 when I get a call from the School. C has chest pains, can I meet her at A&E. Hoof it to the chippy, buy sausage and chips. Nip to the bus station shovelling the scran in. Bus to the Infirmary. Up there by about 1.30. C arrives by 3.

Then wait, seen by a medic about 5. Whisked off for x-ray and then more bloods. Inconclusive so more bloods at 9.30. We wait on results.

So at 01.00 we’ve had enough and walk! We’ll strictly speaking we taxi.

Entrance

Entrance

Entrance Wake, ablute and brekky, leave the houseo for trip to Scarborough. At the bus stop by 8.30. Grayway feeder arrives 15 minutes early which suits us. Off to Burtonwood services, changeover is smooth and plenty of time for a coffee.

Journey and a 30 minute break at services followed by an hour at the next services and lunch. As predicted am on a trip with a bunch of senile delinquents and mogadon swallowing Burnley firm intent on finding the match on Sky somewhere. Travel is boring, bus not exactly comfy and we end up devouring as a result of a car accident.

The Cumberland Hotel in Scarborough is a touch rough round the edges, staff are welcoming but almost as geriatric as the party we’re in. Comp drink in the bar though is welcome.

Food is not great, it’s catering for the audience not much crunch. Fish cake sans fish but tasty enough. Roast ham and chips is in fact sliced ham and chips. Cheese and biscuits were good but lack poof knife makes buttering the biscuits difficult.

Bed early in the dungeon.

Something Purple

Supermarket aubergine purple blues. Not the only blues going down right now.

Game of musical chairs today at work, move teams, Lisa and Shehan still in the team so that’s cool.

Call from Sharon, should she buy an Asus laptop.  Spec was ok.  Cal will need to sort it for her.

Generally a wee bit down right now.  Mix of anxiety and the black dog.  Not too bad when I’m grafting but any lulls and it kicks me in the bollocks.
